Pentylene glycol (NPG) is a unique polyol. It can provide excellent performance in many end-use applications. Due to its high chemical and thermal stability, Pentylene Glycol (NPG) has proven itself in many applications. Especially as a basic material, it is producing polyester and alkyd resins for various coatings and plastics.
An important area of pentylene glycol (NPG) application is powder coatings. It has been proven that powder coatings are very successful in the construction industry and household appliances coatings. Other applications of pentylene glycol (NPG) include the manufacture of lubricants, plasticizers, and drugs: it is used as a basic material for synthetic hormones, cardiovascular drugs, and analgesics. BASF sells NPG under its NEOL brand.
Hexanediol (HDO) is used in the manufacture of industrial coatings, including low-volatile organic compound formulations, polyurethanes, adhesives and cosmetics. Hexanediol (HDO) can also be used as a reactive diluent in epoxy system formulations. For example, it is used to efficiently produce rotor blades for modern wind turbines, as well as structural components for lightweight automotive applications.
1,5-Pentanediol (PDO) is used as a linear diol. Usually used to produce various resin types such as polyester and polyurethane (polyester polyol and polycarbonate diol) resins. These resins are used, for example, in the production of adhesives and sealants. In this application, the flexibility and adhesion properties of 1,5-pentanediol (PDO) are valuable. On the other hand, 1,5-pentanediol (PDO) is also a designated resin. It is also used in the production of coatings, where PDO helps to achieve a good balance between hardness and flexibility, adhesion, weather resistance and hydrolysis resistance.
Capromer polycaprolactone is a specialty polyol used in high-performance polyurethane applications, such as thermoplastic elastomers for technical applications and coatings.
