
Butyl 4-hydroxybenzoate is also called butylparaben. This paraben is a white crystalline with a special smell. Butyl 4-hydroxybenzoate is freely soluble in alcohol, ether, and chloroform. It is very slightly soluble in water. The butylparaben tastes astringent.
