Chlorhexidine Gluconate (CHG)

CAS No.:

Molecular structure:

chlorhexidine gluconate

Imperial Chemical Industries, Ltd as an antibacterial agent, invite Chlorhexidine Gluconate (CHG). It is a broad-spectrum biguanidine disinfectant with low toxicity but high efficiency.

CHG is useful for antibacterial and antiseptic to gram-negative bacteria (50 mcg/ml) and gram-positive bacteria (10 mcg/ml). It is widely used for skin disinfection, surgical disinfection, instrument disinfection, rinsing burns and other wounds, and bladder irrigation. It can also be used for oral anti-inflammatory, healing sores, and surgery in the abdominal cavity and intestinal mucosa disinfection.

CHG can also disinfect tableware, vegetables, and drinking water daily.

As one of the most widely used disinfectants, CHG is more effective than other salt disinfectants. Clinically, Chlorhexidine Gluconate water solution is much more ordinary for various disinfection purposes.

Appearance (25℃)Colorless to light yellow, almost clarified, slightly viscous liquid
Active content19.0-21.0%
Water solubleMiscible with water, soluble in ethyl alcohol and propyl alcohol
OdorOdorless or almost odorless
pH (25℃)5.5-7.0
Ignition residue0.1% Max.

CHG is often used in formulations with other disinfectants, and the specific formulation and dosage are based on the actual condition of equipment and experimental data. When used alone as a disinfectant, a 2% water solution is recommended.

Packing and Storage:

Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated warehouse. The temperature should be lower than 37℃. It should be stored separately from oxidizing agents and edible chemicals, never mix and store with other material and keep the container sealed.

Keep away from fire and heat sources. The warehouse must be equipped with lightning protection devices. The exhaust system should have a grounding device to conduct static electricity. Adopt explosion-proof lighting and ventilation devices. Prohibit the use of equipment and tools which can easily form spark-prone. Storage areas should be equipped with spill response equipment and suitable storage materials
